Wisconsin’s Future Transportation Workforce
On May 20th, 2022 we held our WATDA Transportation Career Showcase at Mukwonago High School. We had 1,200 middle and high school students bussed in from 10 area schools visit with our industry partners. Students were able to see cars, touch diesel trucks, start-up vehicles, tour an RV, sit in semi trucks, and talk with experts in the automotive, collision, diesel, and RV industry. What a fantastic day encouraging students into these noble career pathways.
Thank you to Kunes Auto and RV Group, Schlossmann Auto Group, Griffin Auto Group, Badger Truck & Auto Group, Lakeside International Trucks, Ewald Automotive Group, A. David Kriete, Kriete Truck Centers, Dustin Lehman, Jim Michlig, Nolan Campbell, Sarah Horner, and everyone who made this possible! Press Release: There is a solution to the current and future demand for a skilled automotive, collision, and diesel workforce. The statewide technician talent shortage is real. Wisconsin dealerships are facing historic technician shortages in automotive, collision, and diesel positions. Fewer students are pursuing a technician career, and dealerships are reporting increasingly shallow application pools for most positions. Addressing these shortages, while attracting, developing, and retaining top talent, is one of the most critical issues facing the industry. Questions? Email: bkindred@watda.org
