About the Foundation of WATDA
Foundation
Purpose
"To increase the quality and quantity
of young people entering the retail auto/truck
service industry in Wisconsin."

Philanthropic Grants
-
WATDA Foundation awarded 526scholarships
and sponsorships to students pursuing a technical
career in a retail automobile or truck business.
Along with Snap-on, we have invested over $2.2 million
in young people's careers.
- WATDA Foundation presented grants to four students
preparing to become Vocational Education Teachers
in automotive technology.
- WATDA Foundation presented three awards to ADAMM's
"Technicians of Tomorrow" contest winners
and the Skills USA Championship(VICA).
- WATDA Foundation awarded $100,000 to children and
family causes including Wisconsin Public Television's
Get Real! program for children and Children's
Service Society of Wisconsin foster care adoption
program. Many other Wisconsin charities have benefited
from the community challenge grant program:

Awareness
- WATDA Foundation provides leadership in the cetification
and implementation of AYES (Automotive Youth Educational
Systems) in Milwaukee, Racine, Green Bay, Portage
and Mukwanago.
- WATDA Foundation conducted 13 career awareness meetings
in 16 dealership locations with 750 participants.
- WATDA Foundation participates in Skills USA. www.skillsusa-wi.org
- WATDA Foundation established a task force in southeast
Wisconsin with technical schools, suppliers, dealers
and Junior Achievement to promote careers in the industry.
- WATDA Foundation participated in tech awareness
programs throughout the state.
Education
- WATDA Foundation sent information to 1,000 high
school counselors concerning opportunities in the
industry.
- WATDA Foundation received 130 applications for scholarships
in 2002.
- WATDA Foundation conducts 70 scholarship interviews
with over 40 volunteers each year.
- WATDA Foundation Awarded over 90 scholarships in
2001.
- WATDA Foundation Participated in GM and Chrysler
Automotive Youth Educational Systems (AYES) programs
for high school juniors and seniors in Milwaukee and
Racine as well as in the development of a combined
Youth Apprenticeship and AYES program.
- WATDA Foundation hosted the pilot program of "Education
Teachers" in the Milwaukee public schools and
is developing a plan to expand educational opportunities
in Milwaukee public schools.
- WATDA Foundation participated in planning for GM
ASAP program in the Fox Valley.
- WATDA Foundation conducted a research project identifying
educational needs in the next 3-5 years.
- WATDA Foundation participates in the Wisconsin Workforce
Development "School-to-work" initiative
for automotive technician youth apprenticeships.
